Reading

Ang Aming Katha - a website that features literary works from Filipinos from all over the world. New issues are out every month. The site is developed by one of the smartest, wittiest, and most good-looking people on the Pinoy Internet scene.

Binibini - an ezine that features works from young Filipina women from all over the world. A new issue is also out every month.

Tinig.com - an online magazine for the Filipino youth containing personal essays, news features and commentaries on current national issues written by young Filipino writers, journalists, students, and activists.

News and Information

My mom is fond of telling this story about me and my love for newspapers. She tells everyone about me, as a three year old child, waking up and the first thing I look for is the newspaper. I remember reading the comics section first, so I was always racing with my grandfather for the comics section of the Inquirer. Man, he was so good at those crossword puzzles. I wish I was THAT good.

Philippine Daily Inquirer - the best source of news about the Philippines. I particularly enjoy columns written by Conrado de Quiros, Belinda Olivarez-Cunanan and Michael L. Tan, as well as "Youngblood" contributions and Pugad Baboy comic strips. The Infotech section is also worth checking out.

Philippine Star - The news that they deliver is not as biting as that of the Inquirer. I go to this site mainly to read Quinito Henson's column and Beerkada comic strips. Also, Ricky Lo's column is the best source of Pinoy tsismis.

Manila Bulletin - Reading the news from this paper could sometimes be frustrating because it seems like they're all just press releases. Worth checking out, however, is Beth Celis' column, which provides the best PBA news and inside scoop. The sports section also offers the best in local sports coverage.

ABS-CBN News - It's well-updated and a very good source of info. Better than it's GMA counterpart.

Manila Times - I must admit, I visit this site mainly for the sports section.

Music

Just a castaway, an island lost at sea... Sting - probably my favorite artist, I have more of his songs on my mp3 playlist than any other artist. Check out his official site, where you can find an online diary of his tour, as well as lyrics, free music samples, and fan club information.

Launch - the most comprehensive music site on the web, bar none. Watch music videos, hear audio samples, or just read album reviews or interviews of your favorite artists.

Club Dredd - If you were swept up by the band craze during the mid-90s, then you will love this site. The people behind Club Dredd said they'd be back, and this is the latest incarnation of the famous club. Here, you'll find the most comprehensive info on your favorite bands.

In the name of love, one man in the name of love...U2 - "The Greatest Rock Band in the World" U2 also maintains a site that caters to all their fans needs, from audio samples to lyrics to the stories behind the songs and the albums. A must-visit for all U2 fans.

The APO Hiking Society - come to think of it, the Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society is an oxymoron, isn't it?

Movies and Television

The Internet Movie Database - for movie fans everywhere, lots of information, including reviews, trivia, and memorable quotes, on almost any movie.

Roger Ebert's Movie Reviews - Roger Ebert is one of the most popular review guys anywhere, and his reviews are well written and entertaining, even personal, without ruining the film for you.

Rotten Tomatoes - A site that compiles all of the movies reviews for all of the latest releases.

Coming Attractions - The latest rumors and news for that upcoming movie you've always wanted to see.

Episode Guides - This site contains episode guides to all of your favorite American TV shows.

Sports

Buco Pie Country - This is a website I made for my fantasy basketball team, the Los Baños Buco Pies. We are currently in the thick of the fourth season of the Manila Fantasy Basketball League.

Pro Wrestling Torch - I've been a fan since Wrestlemania IV. I'm a big mark for Bret Hart. Among the new wrestlers, my favorites are Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, and Eddy Guerrero. The Torch is the best wrestling news site out there. This is where everyone else steals their news.

ESPN.com's Page 2 - A funny look at your favorite sports stories.

Great NBA Sites - Official Site | ESPN | Yahoo | BSKBall | Rotoguru

The Billiard Channel - Filipinos are the greatest billiards players in the world, and this site gives the most comprehensive coverage on the Internet.

Fun

The Onion - the best parody news site on the web

Small Time Games - the coolest games

The Spark - the coolest tests

Comics

I'm not really big on Anime, so you shouldn't expect to find Anime links here.

The Dark Knight - the site contains lots of info about Batman. Be sure to read the synopses of all the important Batman storylines through the years.

Night Hood - one of my favorite cartoons is Night Hood, which was based on the works of Maurice Le Blanc. Le Blanc created the character Arsene Lupin, the gentleman thief, and you can read all about him here. This character is also the basis of the Anime character Lupin that you could watch on GMA 7.

Nightwing's Lair - After a falling out with Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, the original Robin, donned a different mask as Nightwing. He now patrols the city of Bludhaven. Believe me, the Nightwing identity really kicks ass.
