Opinion : My Top 15 Best Music Videos

I would say that most music videos (mostly of boy bands & sleazy rapping niggas) lack originality and creativity. Panay pa-cute na lang o kaya mga negrang naka-thong..to..thong..thong...thongs. Gone are the days when every music video is unique and interesting from the other. Of course, there are some artists that still produce good music videos like Bjork, Fatboy Slim, and Madonna.
I thought of listing 15 of the best music videos that I have seen since the dawn of the MTV era. Here they are:
1. Teardrop - Massive Attack (Imagine, fetus inside the womb yung kumakanta. Cool!)
2. Perfect Drug - Nine Inch Nails (Ang galing ng costumes, set, cinematography + the song rocks!)
3. Weapon of Choice - Fatboy Slim (Christopher Walken, the villain of all villains, dancing. Galing ng concept!)
4. Jeremy - Pearl Jam (Ang galing ng mga symbolisms!)
5. Push It – Garbage (Weird pero ang sarap panoorin!)
6. Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel (The dawn of special fxs on music videos.)
7. Human Behaviour – Bjork (Weird!)
8. Bedtime Story - Madonna (Magastos tong video na to. Weird din at unique.)
9. Virtual Insanity - Jamiroquai (Hanggang ngayon di ko alam paano ginawa tong video na to.)
10. Ironic - Alanis Morrissette (Galing ng concept and editing --- 4 na Alanis with different personalities and singing wildly inside a car.)
11. Links 234 – Rammstein (German hardrock band rules! Nakakakilabot ung mga langgam!)
12. Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins (Cartoon, na live action, na ewan! Unique to, man! Sayang wala na sila.)
13. Got Till Its Gone - Janet Jackson (Galing ng statement about racial discrimination. This is a "real BLACK artist's video"!)
14. Freak on a Leash- Korn (Watch how the bullet made its way on everything along its path.)
15. Losing my Religion – REM (A simply beautiful video.)

| di mo alam kung paano gimawa yung virtual insanity? imagine standing in a vast flat surface na may furniture ka pang kasama, and then getting enclosed by a very big box with cameras inside. imagine a very big hand sliding the box in various directions, thus creating the illusion of the furniture sliding across the room. also put a horizontal treadmill ( walkalator ) in there, thus letting jay kay appear walking in place... i saw how the video was made, ang i am pretty confident i summed it up. please feel free, especially everyone to correct me in case i am wrong...

about ironic. i reaaly wanna see the version where mike kasem ( a former mtv asia vj ) made an interpretation of the video. i heard it was hilarious...
personal favorites? hmm... smooth by santana feat. rob thomas. i like those booties shakin', hehe... but the song is an all-time favorite of mine... also breathe by prodigy. simply gothic(fashion?) at its best!!!! i still get nightmares from that video, that's why it's so cool!

| I've always thought that A-ha's Take On Me and The Cars' You Might Think were both ground-breaking videos in terms of being among the first to use special effects creatively.
You Might Think was actually the first video to be awarded Best Music video at the first MTV Awards. Take on Me was very catchy with that "entering-a-comic-strip" concept. Nowadays, this might seem routinary, but back in the mid-80s, it was considered pioneering.

| Anything from Aerosmith - Una yung series na nandun si Alicia Silverstone. Tapos yung tatlong videos na galing sa Nine Lives album (Falling in Love, Hole in My Soul, Pink). Kahit yung mga luma, Janie's Got a Gun, Rag Doll, astig.
Madonna's Like A Prayer gives me the chills.
Anything from Fatboy Slim's usually good. Aliw na aliw ako sa Ya Mama.
Gusto ko rin yung mga videos ng Daft Punk, there was Around the World, tapos ngayon yung trilogy na cartoons.
Yung mga videos na pinagkuhanan ng Nike commercials, astig din.

<----- that is so true. those rap videos are usually all about women wiggling their breasts or shakin' their boo-tays. i hate hate hate the Back That Thang Up video, i forgot the artist's name though. it's bordering on exploitation. and those boy band videos, they totally suck! arghhhh. don't you ever notice that directors tend to focus on justin timberlake's new tattoo or nick carter's oh-so-pretty face. arghhhh.
but i love love love all of marilyn manson's videos. they may be quite nauseating, but at least they're different. i like the fact that he doesn't bend to the society's standards of what a music video should be.
what else... hmmm... i like bjork's Bachelorette and I've Seen It All videos. you're right, mejo weird nga lang. lol.
but my number one love is Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up video. the best.
next is The Cranberries's Animal Instinct video: nakakaiyak sobra. i'm a sucker for sentimental videos and songs. pls pls pls see this video.
but i think music videos are not all about how the video was made or how much was spent. it's all about the music.
(p.s. ang cute ni gavin rossdale sa mga videos ng bush! (swoon) lol. )

| try mariah carey's & britney spears' videos. grabe, what are they exactly trying to sell? if there is a regualtion committee for mtvs, R-18 na yung videos nila. britney's "slave for love" is downright sleazy. yes, she is sexy, but puhlease, maligo muna siya.

| I really blame the Philippine media for its liberal use of the word "ni**a", leaving Filipinos very ignorant of the real meaning of that word. Most of my friends are black and the "n" word is very shameful and obscene. FYI, it is considered profanity and please, next time you say that make sure there is no black person around you or else you're ass is toast! If you abhor discrimination, it's about time to practice it.

| Yeah, I agree. Madonna's Like a Virgin video was very influential. saka yung Jeremy ng pearl jam, they antedate the columbine killings. gusto ko rin yung aerosmith alicia silverstone videos.
